OUR MONOPOLE VINEYARDS

On 34 hectares we cultivate 90% Riesling, 5% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Blanc with the highest quality standards and fermented spontaneously. The wines grow on three monopole vineyards directly opposite of the estate. All vineyards are classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGEN and are named after the monastery hierarchy Bruderberg, Herrenberg and Abtsberg. Wine grows here which is renowned around the world.

ABTSBERG

A LEGEND.

The Abtsberg is without question the estate’s most renowned vineyard; it encompasses 14 hectares. Its bedrock forms a rounded summit that opens up from southeast to southwest and reaches gradients of up to 75%. The wines distinguish themselves through their finely structured, refined terroir aroma and delicate fruit. A perfect combination of slate soil and aromatic but still fine fruit which results in great, harmonious wines. Wines from the Abtsberg are especially famous for their almost peerless aging potential.

HERRENBERG

A RUWER RIESLING AS TAKEN FROM A PICTURE-BOOK.

The vineyard Herrenberg spreads out over 19 hectares. Most of it is sheltered by the forest of the Grüneberg, is less steep and cooler than the Abtsberg. The wines from here are very juicy, s l ightly tangy and wonderfully classic, with a strong minerality. Elegant and creamy in the finish. A wine which thanks to its fruit and herbal aromas is accessible early, but does possess an extraordinary aging potential.

BRUDERBERG

A TERROIR WINE WITH WILD, RACY HERBAL AROMAS AND MINERALITY.

The vineyard is one hectare in size. Through its southeasterly exposure it is the coolest of the three vineyards which gives it a certain uniqueness, characterised through lively fruit, herbal and saline aromas. When the wine is young, it seems vivid and sleek. Even in a younger state, with some oxygen, the wine has a nice creaminess.
